Our vision at Encourage Recycling is to provide a platform to educate individuals, families, and businesses on the benefits of recycling.
Did you know the plastic water bottle you are holding in your hand can be recycled into lumber for an outdoor deck? Pin a picture of a plastic water bottle bottle on the refrigerator, and ask, "Where is that bottle going to end up? In a landfill, or recycled into playground equipment for children to play on?"
Also, aluminum soda cans are recyclable. Please dispose of them properly.
Our easy 5 step approach (see Getting Started tab) encourages individuals & families to recycle their household trash each week or bi-weekly with their trash pickup company or take it directly to a recycle center. The cost is nominal and they provide you a free recycle bin.
Grocery stores play a pivotal role in collecting plastic bags for recycling. Properly placed collection bins serve as collection points for customers to deposit their used plastic bags. The bins should be properly labeled and designed to encourage participation, making it clear to customers where they should deposit their bags. If a store does not meet this standard, they should be approached & offered suggestions on how to improve visibility and customer participation.
Organized recently in June 2024, we are in our initial phases. Please let us know your thoughts & ideas on how we can best plan our future.

Thank you.
The stores two Recycle Bins are located in the Customer Services Center located in the front of the store halfway between the Grocery, & Home & Pharmacy entrances. The recycle bins are not visible as you enter & exit the store. One bin should be located by the Grocery entrance & one bin should be located by the Home & Pharmacy entrance. That is why each store is given two recycle bins. This Wal-Mart store does not meet acceptable standards as outlined in the Approach Section above. Wal-Mart will be approached & offered suggestions on how to improve visibility and customer participation.
Additional Note: The Walmart on 4500 Fayetteville Road in Raleigh does not have any Recycle Bins! I tried to contact the store by phone but the phone rang but no one answered. I contacted Customer Service & they were very helpful. Took my information seriously. Said they will forward information to Walmart Management & the Store Manager.
